This week has been a frustrating week of weather. It’s March. . .LATE March, and we just got some more snow this past weekend. It’s been cold and windy outside. Not great weather for photography.
At this stage of the business, I photograph every product for Spark of Amber myself. I take the pictures outside, to get the best natural lighting possible. I want you to be able to see the product up close, so you know exactly what you are purchasing.
I have a handmade light-box constructed, so on sunny days, I put each piece of jewelry inside the light-box and take 3-5 pictures. On cloudy days, I sometimes take the pictures outside of the light-box. Often, I have to retake if the pictures are blurry or just not exactly what I was hoping for.
Last week, there was a sunny (though cold) day, and I was happy to be able to photograph every style of “Savannah Sunset” bracelets. I still had 10 pairs of Baltic Amber “Shooting Star” earrings (all different styles) waiting to be photographed. It was too windy to photograph earrings last week.
Then, yesterday afternoon, FINALLY, the clouds broke, and I looked out of my window and saw SUNSHINE!
As Spark of Amber grows, I may someday get a more professional light-box and better camera so that I can take pictures inside. For now, I’m glad I have a way to take great pictures of our products.
